What is Plate Glass Insurance?

Plate Glass Insurance is insurance coverage against accidental damage to or breakage of large panes of glass used in commercial buildings, such as shop windows used for storefront displays. The Plate Glass Insurance covers accidental breakage of glass while situated at the insured's premises from any cause other than those specifically excluded in the policy. This cover must be accompanied with fire and burglary insurance.

How does it work?

This policy will not cover damage caused by natural perils like storm and earthquake or other components that are part of the glass installation such as a damaged metal frame meant to hold the window pane in place.
